NFL Draft 2025: Former Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell picked No. 31 overall in Round 1

Alabama had a player taken in the first round of the NFL Draft for a record 17th straight year on Thursday night in Green Bay. The next question was whether the Crimson Tide could squeeze a second player into that first round.

Of course they would.

With the 31st overall pick, the Philadelphia Eagles selected former Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell.

With Tyler Booker being taken 12th overall by the Dallas Cowboys, Alabama extended its record of consecutive years with a first-round pick. Campbell joined Booker later in the first round, giving the Crimson Tide multiple first-round picks in 9 straight drafts.

Campbell becomes the 82nd first-round Alabama draft pick, moving the Crimson Tide within 3 selections of tying USC for the second-most all-time.

The 6-foot-3, 244-pound Campbell came all the way down from South Jersey to star for the Crimson Tide, and he capped his 3-year run in Tuscaloosa with a monster season in 2024. Campbell had a ridiculous 117 tackles last fall, 55 of them solo. He also finished with 11.5 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 interception. Campbell was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2024.

He ended his career with 184 tackles, 15.5 TFLs, and 5.5 sacks.

This fall, he’ll be heading to the NFL along with the usual talented brigade that Tuscaloosa sends to the pros every spring.
