Carrie Underwood opened up about her experience as a contestant on the competition show American Idol in a new video, reading back some of her 2005 journal entries from when she was on the show.
The "So Small" singer shared the clip on Instagram on April 24, revealing what she wrote after performing the song "Alone" by Heart on stage for the audience and the judges, starting by saying, "I, despite my mile-high hair, did a wonderful job tonight."

"All the judges praised me," she went on, revealing exactly what one of the notoriously hard-to-impress judges said: "Simon [Cowell] told me that I was not just the girl to beat, but the person to beat. He then went on to make a prediction that I would not only win the AI competition, but I would sell more albums than any other American Idol [winner] has."
Back in 2005, Underwood was "really surprised" by Cowell's statements, writing in the journal, "I mean, I know that Simon loves me, but that was a total shocker!"
