COSTCO members are raving over a new frozen food item that is being called an “identical” dupe of a luxury restaurant’s version.
The major retailer is being praised for its cheaper alternative to an otherwise pricey dish.
Shoppers have flocked to social media to compare a Costco frozen food item to something you would find at the high end restaurant Nobu.
Consumers can now get their hands on Costco‘s Alaskan Leader Seafoods Miso Black Cod.
At least one shopper has compared the dish to Nobu’s wildly popular black cod with miso.
A family size box of the Costco cod costs approximately $23 and includes five pieces of fish.
There are four separate cooking instructions: Broil & Bake, Sear & Bake, Air Fry, and Grill, per the outlet delish.
Delish reports that the fish comes out best when air fryed.
This way, it makes the food “perfectly browned and beautifully flaky.”
And other customers are obsessed with the cod.
One person was so in love with it that she actually decided to serve it at her wedding.
Sonia, a Costco shopper, told the outlet: “We were brainstorming our favorite meals, and miso black cod is absolutely one of my favorite fish preparations.
“We figured we’d at least give it a try.
“I’m not certain that it will be available at Costco when we’re getting married, so we haven’t decided if we will push for this or not.”
Sonia then went onto admit that “it’s not exactly the same, but still very tasty and a tiny portion of the cost.”
According to the Nobu menu, a serving of black cod with miso would cost you $49.
This is $26 more than a box of the Costco dupe.
REDDIT REVEALES ALL
Fans on Reddit have also raved about the frozen food offering from Costco.
The comments on a Reddit thread were filled with bold claims that the Costco version is “pretty much identical” to the Nobu one.
They said: “Pretty much identical.
“We do sushi nights at home and serve the nobu style black cod recipe occasionally.
“This would be the best substitute I could ever ask for.”

An equally enthusiastic customer added: “This is the best frozen fish I have ever had, from Costco or anywhere else.
“Similar consistency to Chilean sea bass, and the glaze is amazing.”
The original review posted on the platform said: “I was skeptical of this product because of the price.
” Mannnn it was so good!!! The fish was flaky and thawed out easily. I didn’t listen to the cooking instructions, instead I air fried it on 500 degrees for 7-8 minutes.
“Perfection. I like to make food from scratch, but I would easily serve this to anyone visiting my home.”
Those who want to get a taste of this cod for themselves can find it in the frozen section at Costco right now.
