SAVANNAH Guthrie was missing from Today this morning, with her quickly replaced by a fill-in – much to the surprise of viewers at home.
Last night, Australian-born Savannah, 53, was focusing on her side hustle in New York City, which meant she skipped work the following morning, it seems.
The beloved Today host isn’t just a journalist and broadcaster, but she’s an author too.
Savannah’s children’s book Mostly What God Does Is Love You came out earlier this year.
And last night (Wednesday, April 23), the popular telly host was signing books for fans at an event.
This morning on Today, Savannah was replaced by Laura Jarrett, which came mere hours after she was busy at the book signing.
Signing books at The Shop at NBC Studios, Savannah could be seen on the venue’s Instagram page.
“We loved having @savannahguthrie in The Shop for a book signing!

Meanwhile, in the video Savannah could be seen signing the 32-page picture book and posing with fans.
SAVANNAH THE AUTHOR
The book seemingly “showcases the wonders of nature, the beauty of God’s creation, and most importantly, how very loved you are by God”.
Last year, Savannah – who has been an anchor on Today since 2012 – released an adult’s book about faith.
Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere came out in 2024.
In the tome, which is aimed at adults, there are a selection of personal essays where Savannah explores her faith and how belief in God helps her navigate life’s challenges.
As well as the two aforementioned books, Savannah has another two books available.
In 2017 she released Princesses Wear Pants, and in 2018 she released Princesses Save The World.

HODA’S REPLACEMENT
This comes as Today viewers patiently wait for the return of Sheinelle Jones.
Sheinelle, who is known for her hosting duties, previously took time out of the flagship breakfast show when she abruptly and unexpectedly stopped appearing on screen from December 18, 2024 onwards.
The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Sheinelle is to officially replace Hoda as Jenna Bush Hager‘s co-host for the fourth hour of the show after she’s back from family leave.
According to our source, Sheinelle “has the job” but added how there will not be an announcement until after her leave of absence has ended.
The decision was made after Craig Melvin was promoted to Hoda’s former spot alongside Savannah.
“Ratings with Craig are good. This taught executives that the audience wants people they know and that they should promote from within,” the source said.
