BASEBALL

Howland 5, Wilmington (Pa.) 0 — The Tigers blanked the Greyhounds thanks to a strong performance on the mound from Sully O’Donnell. The hurler tossed a complete game, allowing only four hits, two walks and striking out nine Wilmington batters. Brayden Kovarik led the Howland offense with a pair of RBIs and Bode Biggin swiped four bases. Shane Heller was given the loss in four innings, striking out one, walking two and allowing four hits.

    Chalker 12, Mathews 8 (8 inn.) — In a game that needed an extra frame, the Wildcats took advantage with four runs in the top of the eighth to topple the Mustangs. Lending a bat in the win were Logan Smallsreed, Daniel Kellar and Bobby Prowitt with a trio of singles each, TJ Williams and Lucas Porterfield each singled twice, Zach Pack doubled and Tegun Noble belted a home run, doubled, singled and drove in three runs. Williams was also given the win, fanning five and walking two. In the loss, Gabe Pesa singled twice and drove in two runs, Jared Pegg singled twice and the duo of Jake Petak and Kam Kester each tallied three hits.

    Lowellville 10, Western Reserve 6 — The Rockets plated five runs in the sixth inning to take the lead and ultimately the contest over the Blue Devils. Leading the way offensively for Lowellville was Kaden Primous with a trio of singles and Tyler Tuscano with a pair of hits while Liam Bartlett and Cody Nolfi each drove in three runs. Tuscano picked up the win, throwing 4 1/3 innings while striking out one, walking six and allowing four hits. For Western Reserve, Connor Jones singled twice, Evan Slaven doubled and Hunter Stacy doubled and drove in two runs. Marek Stevens was given the loss in relief, throwing one inning while allowing a hit and a walk while striking out none.

    Ursuline 16, Crestview 7 — Both teams combined for 31 hits as the Irish claimed the contest over the Rebels, scoring in every inning offensively. Charging the Ursuline offense was CJ Snyder with three singles and a pair of RBIs, Rowan Urbach and Thomas Kosovan added two hits and RBIs, AJ Snyder doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs, Marc DelliQuadri doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Joe Balog doubled twice and Jake Bednar singled twice. Dom Polkovitch was given the win in six innings, picking up a strikeout while walking none and allowing 13 hits. In the loss, Zachary Davis and Kyle Booth each singled twice, Jayden Kimble singled twice and drove in two runs, Luke Julian tallied two RBIs and Wyatt Ervin drilled three hits. Brayden DeCenso was given the loss in three innings, striking out one, walking two and scattering six hits.

    Newton Falls 8, Garfield 2 — A six-run second inning was the launching point the Tigers needed to pick up the win over the G-Men. Leading the Newton Falls offense was Leland Vargo with a double and single, Trevor Ruscoe drilled a home run and drove in three runs and Ethan Powell tallied a trio of singles. Vargo also earned the win in seven innings, in which he struck out 10, walked two and allowed four hits. Garfield statistics were incomplete.

    LaBrae 23, Liberty (5 inn.) — The Vikings scored 10 in the first and 10 more in the third innings to dominate the Leopards. The offensive outpouring was led by Owen Boone with a home run, single and four RBIs, Austin Rowe and Colton Hall each singled twice and drove in three runs, Lucas Glaser doubled and had three RBIs, Brett Marsh added a double and a pair of RBIs and Tommy Beck added a double. Rowe was also given the win in two innings, throwing a perfect two frames while striking out two. Clayton Bratton was given the loss in one innings, allowing five hits, walking four and striking out none.

    Grand Valley 8, Champion 0 — Seven runs in the opening inning set the tone for the Mustangs in the win over the Golden Flashes. Plizga picked up the shutout complete-game win, fanning 11 and walking one while allowing five hits. Offensively for Grand Valley, Plizga helped his cause with two RBIs and Krieg doubled. Reed was given the loss for Champion, going the distance while picking up four strikeouts, walking three and allowing six hits. At the plate, Reed and Boggs both singled twice.

    Poland 4, Rocky River 3 — The Bulldogs scored three runs to open the game and staved off the Pirates’ attack to earn the win. Jacob Hayes picked up the complete-game win, walking none, striking out six and allowing five hits. At the dish, Tyler Tarajack belted a solo home run and singled, while Mike Daley drove in two runs. For Rocky River, Perry took the loss in six innings, striking out 10, walking three and allowing five hits. Offensively, Patsouras singled twice.

    Howland 15, Struthers 5 — The Tigers plated eight runs in the second frame and cruised to the dominant win over the Wildcats. Leading the way at the plate for Howland was Dominic Santee with a double, single and three RBIs, Luca Fronzaglio added three hits while Bode Biggin, Elliot Gebhardt and Brayden Kovarik each added a pair of hits and Richie Ansel drove in three runs. Steven Bubon picked up the win, throwing three innings, walking none and allowing five hits while striking out three. For Struthers, Michael Scavnicky, Drew Chizman, Phil Robbins, Jackson West and Jordan Becker each tallied a pair of hits with Scavnicky driving in two runs. On the mound for Struthers, Chizmar was given the loss, allowing 10 hits, walking none and striking out one in one inning of work.

    South Range 6, Central Valley Academy 5 — The Raiders picked up the win in walk-off fashion to topple Central Valley Academy. Offensively for South Range, Hiscox and Brian each singled twice, Rohan doubled and drove in two runs and Smesko had a pair of singles and RBIs. Coming in on relief, Rohan picked up the win in two innings, striking out one, walking one and allowing no hits. In the loss, Ludwig doubled twice and Vogel added a double. Yardley was given the loss, walking one and allowing a hit while striking out none in 2/3 innings.

    South Range 16, Highland Regional 6 (6 inn.) — The Raiders started the game hot with four runs to open the game and rode that momentum to the dominant win. Leading the way offensively was Klasovsky with a pair of doubles, a single and four RBIs, Nagy drove in two runs, Tranovich blasted a home run, singled and drove in three runs and Shumate added a double. Tranovich also picked up the win in four innings, walking four, striking out four and allowing three hits. For Highland, Nick doubled and singled, Chase had a pair of RBIs and Jake doubled while Logan drove in two runs. Mike was given the loss on the mound, tossing a complete game while striking out two, allowing eight walks and scattering 10 hits.

    Jackson-Milton 24, Campbell 14 (6 inn.) — There was no shortage of runs in Tuesday’s contest as both teams combined for 38 runs with the Blue Jays claiming the high-scoring affair over the Red Devils thanks to an exclamation point coming via nine runs in the fourth inning. The Jackson-Milton offense was led by Jaidyn Henry with a pair of singles and RBIs, Dom Krol drove in three runs, Landon Workman had four RBIs, Jaiden Scott doubled, singled three times and drove in six runs and CJ Malutek doubled, singled and drove in four runs. Ryan Grey was given the win in relief, tossing an inning while striking out one, walking four and allowing a hit. For Campbell, Pano Kolidas had three singles and RBIs, Josue Rodriguez doubled and drove in four runs and Malik Young added three RBIs. Young was also given the loss in three innings, walking five, allowing five hits and striking out one.

    Lowellville 7, Western Reserve 6 (8 inn.) — The Rockets walked off the Blue Devils after plating two runs in the sixth inning to tie the contest and adding the final dagger in the bottom of the lone extra inning. Leading the come-from-behind win was Kaden Primous who tallied a pair of singles, Cody Nolfi added two singles and drove in three runs, Liam Bartlett had a pair of RBIs and Geno Perry lent a double. Perry also picked up the win on the bump after 3 2/3 innings in which he allowed three hits, fanned six and walked one. Offensively for Western Reserve, Hunter Stacy and Cole Dotson each singled twice while Hunter Taylor drove in a pair of runs. Ross Watkins was given the loss in relief, walking one, allowing two hits and striking out no one in 1 1/3 innings.

    Mathews 4, Chalker 0 — The Mustangs blanked the Wildcats Wednesday thanks to a 14-strikeout performance from Livy Matheny. The hurler allowed two hits and walks in the win. At the plate, Ava Shugart blasted a solo home run, Allie Ramsey doubled and drove in two runs and Ashia Pate lent a double.

    Columbiana 17, Leetonia 1 (5 inn.) — The Clippers plated 10 runs in their first trip to the plate and didn’t slow down in the throttling of the Bears. In the win, Caitlynn Pleska doubled twice and drove in five runs. Peyton Stoy picked up the win in three innings, striking out four, walking two and allowing a hit. Carli Simms was given the loss in two innings, allowing a hit while striking out none and allowing 16 walks.

    Maplewood 13, Bristol 0 — The Maplewood bats were on fire Wednesday as the Rockets plated seven runs in the opening frame to set the tone in the win over the Panthers. Leading the offensive onslaught was Ava Calvert and Katie Wear with a pair of RBIs, Addison Marker doubled twice and singled and Hayley Flinner singled twice and drove in three runs. Marker was also given the win in four innings, fanning nine, walking one and allowing two hits. Mycie Workman was given the loss, striking out four, walking eight and allowing 12 hits in four innings.

    Boardman 10, Mineral Ridge 0 (6 inn.) — The Spartans scored in nearly every inning and slapped 12 hits in the win over the Rams. Savannah Turek was given the loss in 2 2/3 innings in which she allowed six hits and walked three. Boardman statistics were not submitted.

    Howland 5, Alliance 1 — The Tigers drilled 10 hits en route to the win over the Aviators. Leading the hit parade was Madison Schmitz with a triple, double and two singles, Mary Moy drove in two runs and Brooklyn VanNess doubled. Brooke Tatar picked up the win in six innings, striking out seven, allowing three hits and walking one. In the loss, Tashia Henderson singled twice and Lily White doubled. Alaina Minear was given the loss in four innings, striking out none while walking two and allowing four hits.

    Canfield 10, Paul VI (Va.) 4 — The Cardinals posted seven runs in the top of the second inning and rode that momentum to the six-run win. Leading the charge offensively was Marina Koenig with a double and single, Sydney Lutz and Leah Figueroa each had two hits and RBIs while Jenna Triveri and Ava Millich each tripled. Caylee Ortiz picked up the win in the circle, tossing four innings in which she gave up two hits.

    Fitch 19, Trinity Christian 1 (5 inn.) — The Falcons posted 12 runs their first two trips to the plate and dominated Trinity Christian Wednesday. Fitch drilled 19 hits and was led by Kaliana Ray with two RBIs and three stolen bases, Alyssa Rodgers added two doubles, a single, three RBIs and three stolen bases, Mike Roby singled twice, Abby Toth tripled and singled twice, Kylie Folkwein doubled, Samantha Severn lent a pair of singles and RBIs, Rachel Spakding doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Veda Burt added a double. Kourtney Fedorek picked up the win for Fitch.

    Fitch 16, Princeton (3 inn.) — The Fitch offense plated 10 runs in the top of the third offense as the Falcons crushed Princeton. At the dish, Kaliana Ray tripled, singled twice and stole three bases, Alyssa Rodgers singled twice, Morgan Roby added three singles, Abby toth tripled, singled and drove in two runs, Kylie Folkwein, Bella Baumgart and Seneca Coates each added a double. Kourtney Fedorek was given the win for Fitch.

    South Range 8, Lewisville 4 — Four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and an additional two the next frame was enough for the Raiders in the win over Lewisville. Leading the way for South Range offensively was DeJesus with a single and double, Wilt tripled, singled and drove in three runs and Brogan added a home run, triple and drove in two runs. Rupert was given the win in relief, throwing three innings while striking out five, walking two and allowing a hit. In the loss, Fletcher, Deese and Lambert each singled twice, Waggoner doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Owens tripled. Owens was also given the complete-game loss, walking four, striking out two and allowing eight hits.

    Mathews 11, St. John’s 0 (5 inn.) — The Mustangs picked up their fourth consecutive win thanks to a combined no-hitter by Liv Matheny and Ashia Pate. The duo combined for 12 strikeouts. At the plate for Mathews, Mia Delgarbino doubled and drove in three runs, Livy Tarr doubled and drove in two runs and Kat Rowan tripled and had two RBIs.

    LaBrae 5, Liberty 4 — The Vikings edged out the Leopards in a close contest Tuesday night in a pitcher’s duel. Riley Rowe earned the win in five innings, fanning eight and walking one. At the plate for LaBrae, Rowe belted a solo home run and two singles, Leah DeArmitt singled twice and Morgan Thompson singled twice and drove in three runs. For Liberty, Fleps was given the loss in four innings, walking two while striking out eight. Offensively for the Leopards, Spisak doubled.

    Champion 11, Crestview 1 (5 inn.) — The Golden Flashes plated seven runs in the bottom of the second inning to cruise to the win over the Rebels. Gabby Gradishar picked up the win, fanning 12 while allowing one walk. Leading the way for Champion offensively was Brenna Figley with a pair of dingles, Gradishar helped her cause with a grand slam, a single and four RBIs, Ava Sylvester belted a home run and singled and RBIs, Taylor Rouan doubled, Sam Strock tripled and Zoe Palette drove in two runs. For Crestview, Makayla McKee was given the loss, walking two and striking out one.

    Columbiana 16, United 6 — The Columbiana offense was on fire, boasting 16 hits on the evening as the Clippers walloped the Golden Eagles. The offensive explosion was led by Caitlynn Pleska who belted a solo home run and a pair of singles, Addison Brode tallied four singles and drove in three runs, Cameron Perkins left the yard, singled twice and drove in six runs, Alivia Bell had three singles and RBIs, Anna Yonker singled twice, Kyla Hogan drove in two runs and Maryn Hepler lent a double. Brode picked up the complete-game win, fanning seven, walking one and allowing eight hits. In the loss, Chloe Angelo blasted a home run, singled and drove in three runs and Miley Pitts singled twice. Payten Kekel was given the loss in seven innings, allowing 16 hits, walking four and striking out five.
