A barricaded suspect in a Vista home prompted a SWAT standoff that stretched from the late morning into the mid-afternoon Wednesday, authorities said.
Special weapons and tactics personnel were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of North Citrus Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
The stalemate was ongoing as of 3:30 p.m., Lt. Jessica Boegler said. The Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team also responded.
The standoff grew out of a call for a welfare check at the residence, the lieutenant said. Authorities offered no information on the individual at the home.
Sheriff’s officials asked the public to avoid the area if possible pending resolution of the situation.
