Al Hilal will make a serious push to sign Victor Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window, talkSPORT understands.
The Saudi Pro League club had hoped to make Mohamed Salah their marquee signing this summer.
However, the Egyptian put an end to the speculation when he signed a fresh two-year deal to remain at Liverpool, with the contract estimated to be worth £400,000-a-week including bonuses.
Although Salah is off the market, Al Hilal have retained the central budget they had initially allocated towards signing the Reds superstar and will pursue an alternative marquee option.
Nigerian marksman Osimhen is one name under consideration.
Osimhen has spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray from Napoli and has netted 30 goals from 35 appearances in all competitions.
Should Osimhen join Al Hilal, he could earn an eye-watering $1m (£754k)-a-week.
It is not the first time Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Last summer, Osimhen was the subject of heavy interest from Saudi rivals Al Ahli.
The club had reached an initial loan with a £67m obligation to buy agreement with Napoli.
However, Osimhen turned down the opportunity as Al Ahli went and signed Ivan Toney from Brentford for £40m instead.
Another marquee name on Al Hilal’s wish list is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

Rodrygo has registered 68 goals and 50 assists in over 260 appearances for Los Blancos since his arrival in 2019.
In that time, the 24-year-old has won LaLiga three times, the Champions League twice as well as a Copa del Rey.
With Al Hilal’s heavy interest in another forward, it could spell the end of Aleksandar Mitrovic’s time at the club.
Mitrovic was one of the first major names to head to Saudi Arabia when he moved from Fulham for almost £50m.
The Serbian striker has since proved to be a handful for defenders having netted 62 times in 72 appearances for Al-Hilal.
Mitrovic may be squeezed out to accommodate a marquee signing in the summerAFPBut with the likes of Osimhen and Rodrygo on the club’s shortlist, Mitrovic may be an unfortunate casualty in order to free up funds.
Another reason Al Hilal may be tempted to cash in on Mitrovic is the fact he missed ten league matches with a hamstring injury which cruelled his chances of winning the Saudi Pro League golden boot.
