Throughout the pre-draft process, Shedeur Sanders has been seen as one of the best quarterbacks available in the 2025 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, it is also viewed as a particularly weak class of quarterbacks, and Sanders’s personal odds for the first round have undergone a significant slide.
As of Wednesday morning, it is no longer a lock that Sanders will be selected in the first round of the draft on Thursday evening. He was projected as a top-10 pick for much of the buildup, but that has shifted with ESPN analyst Peter Schrager projecting Sanders to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21 overall in his mock draft.

— Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) April 23, 2025Here is what Schrager had to say about his projection:
I know Sanders had a good meeting in Pittsburgh when he visited a few weeks back. I also know the Steelers still don’t have a QB1 on their roster. This might be viewed as a “slip” down the board for Sanders. He could go anywhere from No. 3 to the Giants to the second round.
Going to Pittsburgh here as the second quarterback in the class wouldn’t be so bad.
Schrager is not the only one starting to buy the Steelers as the eventual landing spot for Sanders. Pittsburgh is the current favorite to draft the son of Deion Sanders, coming in at +185 to draft Shedeur at bet365. The other frontrunners are the New York Giants (+275) and the Cleveland Browns (+280), and anyone interested in those odds can take advantage of the bet365 promo code to get started.
While the Browns and Giants are still considered in the mix to draft Sanders, it no longer appears that the teams would use their first selections at No. 2 and No. 3 overall, respectively. ESPN Bet now has Sanders’s over/under draft position set at 21.5, and the over number is a healthy favorite at -175. Sanders being selected under 21.5 is listed at +130.
Despite the overall position for Sanders sliding, he is still the overwhelming favorite to be the No. 2 QB off the board, leading the pack at -220 in that distinction at DraftKings. Ole Miss star Jaxson Dart checks in at +185 to be the 2nd QB selected, while Alabama QB Jalen Milroe is +900 and tied with Louisville QB Tyler Shough in the odds.
If Sanders is still on the board after the first 15 picks of the draft, it will certainly be an intriguing storyline Thursday night, and his eventual landing spot will be of major interest.
