Costcos Just Brought Back Its Most Controversial Baked Good—And It Has One Big Change

When life throws you a curveball, few things can restore your spirits better than a tasty baked treat. And whether you prefer to make your baked creations from scratch or frequent the ever-changing selection of Costco’s bakery department, the end result will likely always be the same: a full stomach and a satisfied sweet tooth.

Since we’re on the topic of mouthwatering baked goods from Costco’s popular in-house bakery, we would be remiss not to highlight any and all of the bulk retailers new and returning items. This week, fans of classic banana nut stylings are in for a special treat, however, this one in the form of Costco’s brand-new Banana Nut Muffins.

These delectable, fresh-baked, all-butter muffins are made with real bananas, topped with candied walnuts and guaranteed to impress. We spotted them thanks to the reliable sleuth work of @costcobuys and couldn’t wait to spread the sugary-sweet news. Customers can find them available in a pack of 8 for $6.99, though it is still unclear whether this is a seasonal offering or a more permanent option.

If you ask us, these muffins are the perfect snack to either keep to yourself and revisit throughout the week or bring to your next friends and family get-together or work function. And while some fans would like you to believe that Costco’s current, smaller muffin offerings are now somehow worse since switching from their previously larger format, we firmly believe that if you liked them before you will still like them today.

“They’re good,” one satisfied shopper wrote below @costcobuys post, while another fan added “I need,” in response. Alternatively, when one commenter asked about the new muffins' overall taste and flavor, one viewer wrote, “It was dry for me, so disappointing.”

With any new release, a healthy discourse can always be expected surrounding the product's flavor and price point. But with spring officially in full-effect and warmer weather finally upon us, we can expect more sweet creations to be on the horizon from Costco’s famed bakery department.

While the jury might still be out on the current 8-count Banana Nut Muffin offering, we still think these suckers would be amazing with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a warm afternoon. How about you?
