The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner, Sanjiv Goenka, was quite angry after the explosive left-handed batter Nicholas Pooran was smiling following his dismissal against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, April 22.

Nicholas Pooran was knocked over by the premier Delhi Capitals (DC) left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Pooran has been the best batsman of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and has already played some breathtaking knocks.

His performances with the bat have been one of the main reasons behind the success that the Rishabh Pant-led side has tasted in the ongoing season.

However, he was unable to deliver with the bat against the Delhi Capitals and got dismissed on the second ball of the 12th over of the innings.

The star pacer Mitchell Starc bowled a short ball to Pooran, who went for a pull shot, but was deceived by the pacer and only managed to drag the ball back onto the stumps. Pooran was seen laughing after getting out, and Sanjiv Goenka, who was in stands, looked angry.

Nicholas Pooran walked back to the hut after scoring 9 runs off 5 balls, with two boundaries. Also, it was the fifth time Starc dismissed Pooran in 14 balls and 6 innings in T20 cricket.

Marsh and Pooran aren't the type of characters to let that bother them - Aaron Finch

During a discussion on ESPNcricinfo ahead of the match, Aaron Finch was asked about Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran doing heavy lifting for LSG and whether it put an extra burden on them.

Aaron Finch said that Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran are not the type of characters who get bothered by such a thing. He elaborated:

"That is difficult as a player as well because I think Marsh and Pooran aren't the type of characters to let that bother them (on extra burden on them). They are comfortable playing their own game regardless of the situation. But if you are coming into a side and you feel that pressure, you can tense up because then you don't want to make a mistake. And the modern game now, it is not about who is making the few mistakes.

"It is about who is having the most big overs or they are not worried about the mistake side of it. But I just feel as though there are players. Rishabh is not playing a free game. He is playing with baggage at the moment, whether it is from internal or external pressure of leading a new franchise. He is not playing the way that we have seen him play best. You think back to when he was dominating for Delhi.

"He was walking out and hitting him out of the park from ball one and taking the game on and putting so much pressure back on the opposition that he was forcing them to make mistakes. At the moment, he is playing a game where he is waiting for the game to come to him."
