Savvy shopper blasted for ‘selfishness’ after snapping up 4 KILOGRAMS of reduced meat in Aldi for fraction of the price

A SHOPPER has been blasted for their “selfishness” after snapping up a whopping four kilograms of reduced meat in Aldi.

Leigh explained that they’d popped to their local supermarket when they’d spotted the epic bargains – which ranged from 30% off to 50% off.

They then took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to share their haul, writing: “Not too bad from Aldi!”

In the accompanying picture, they showed the incredible 4319g of meat they’d picked up.

Alongside chicken and chorizo kebabs, there were three packs of chicken breast mini fillets, some chicken kievs and a box of breaded chicken pieces.

They’d also nabbed a delicious salt-dried Aberdeen Angus steak, some Cajun chicken and a box of sweet chilli fillets.

As well as all the packets of meat, they’d also picked up a pack of protein noodles.

And while many of the people in the comments section praised Leigh for the haul, there were those who were less than impressed.

“Why take so much?” one raged.

    “Such selfishness!”

“Not really though is it?” someone else hit back.

They could be in need for this food too, and at a discounted rate, why would they not purchase this much?

“That’s 10 dinners they don’t have to pay full price for.

“First comes first served, everyone has a right to buy as much as they like, as if it doesn’t sell, it gets binned regardless!”

As another agreed, writing: “People don’t know each others financial situations in a supermarket.

“And if you don’t take it the next person that sees it certainly will!”

“This is a post about someone who has had a bargain shopping trip and you felt the need to be negative,” someone else sighed.

“I’m sorry you have had to go through what you have done, but feel this isn’t the place for it!”

Why do Aldi and Lidl have such fast checkouts

IF you’ve ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you’ll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff.

Aldi’s speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals.

It’s all part of Aldi’s plan to be as efficient as possible – and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers.

Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process.

It also uses “shelf-ready” packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock.

Leigh then responded, writing: “1st… because I can, 2nd there was still plenty left!”

“There’s always someone to bloody moan if you take!” another said.

And others proved that Leigh wasn’t the only one to get an impressive haul, with Vicky sharing a snap of their shop, writing: “Same!

“Got loads reduced – all of it gets frozen and eaten.

“I never pass the reduced and think I’ll leave some for someone else.

“I think I’ll get that and feed my huge family!”
