Beyond the Gates star Arielle Prepetit has taken the daytime world by storm with her portrayal of Naomi Hawthorne, daughter of Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley).
Since the series premiered, Naomi has been thrust right into the drama. The series opened up with her father marrying one of her best friends, Hayley, the woman with whom he cheated on his wife. Then, after her mother pulled a gun and shot at Bill at the wedding, her police officer husband, Jacob (Jibre Hordges), was forced to arrest Dani. As if things couldn’t get more complicated for Naomi, three of Bill Hamilton’s former employees reached out to Naomi to bring a sexual harassment suit against the firm due to negligence and their treatment specifically by one of the partners, Mike. With the two family members at war, Naomi has to figure out how to navigate what’s to come.
Discussing her recent story developments with Soap Opera News, the actress shared, “It is very exciting to play. On the outside, it might seem like Naomi is suing her dad to spite him, to get back at him for marrying Hayley. It is fair to say maybe at the beginning it was a little icing on the cake. But it goes a lot deeper for her. She believes in getting justice for these women. Ultimately, it is why she took the case that just happens to be against her father. It is very layered and very complicated. It’s fun to play those scenes with Timon and it’s been fun to see the reactions from the fans too.”
While the lawsuit continued to play out, Naomi confronted her father after he attempted to settle the case outside of court. During this confrontation Bill’s hand went numb and Naomi immediately responded to her father’s potential health scare. Prepetit explained, “She can be a little stubborn. She is her daddy’s daughter. She’s not quick to forgive and forget. But when his hand went numb, the case flew out the window. At the end of the day, he’s her dad. She loves him. That moment showed their history. They had a good relationship and things got really messed up.”
Discussing her romantic relationship with Jacob, Prepetit shared, “I absolutely love Jacob and Naomi’s relationship. They are each other’s number one supporter, except for when he had her mom arrested. They can be one hundred percent themselves with each other. They are solid and I love that about them.”
Teasing what’s to come, Prepetit set up, “The storyline between Bill and Naomi isn’t done. The fans can look forward to seeing it play out. Also, who knows, there may be a musical number or two along with some other fun stuff. But you know the fun can’t last too long, so there is going to be scandal. There is much fun ahead!”
