Red Robin’s website crashed on Thursday morning as foodies raced to get their hands on the deal pass, offering fans a burger and fries every day in May for just $20.

Ahead of the launch, the chain had instructed diners to visit a specific webpage on Thursday where a “limited quantity” of passes would be available for purchase.

However, many Red Robin fans complained about the issues they encountered.

For example, one customer on Reddit fumed that they had spent an hour refreshing the website just for it to be sold out.

“What incredible incompetence,” wrote the foodie. “I’m genuinely mad af, no group I’m in is going to Red Robin at any point in the future.”

“So annoying when companies aren’t prepared to launch something like this,” said another.

Others complained that the price at checkout was shockingly higher than the advertised $20, priced at $682.

One Red Robin fan shared that he was able to get a pass, just to be informed it was sold out on the checkout page.

Many foodies criticized the restaurant, arguing that the Bottomless Burger Pass promo was “fake” and “definitely a scam.”

“Publicity stunt. Does anybody actually know a real person who acquired a pass?” questioned one user.

Following the wave of unrest among fans, Red Robin issued an apology.

“We did everything we could to anticipate interest in the Bottomless Burger Pass, including working with our web and gift card partners to prepare for the influx of traffic, but due to overwhelming excitement in the pass – 12 million visits in the matter of seconds – our website and supporting systems crashed,” a Red Robin spokesperson wrote in an emailed statement shared with Nexstar.

“We’re sorry that this happened to our loyal guests. All passes have been sold,” added the spokesperson, who did not share how many passes were sold in total.
