CHRYSLER’S CEO has unveiled an incredible-looking model inspired by the Halcyon concept that could play a significant role in the future of the US car giant.
The household name, which will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2025, is currently stuck in a rut – with its current lineup consisting of just two minivans; the Pacifica and the Voyager.
The family-friendly Pacifica minivan and the Voyager, which is essentially a bare-bones trim level of the Pacifica despite its different name, are popular among US drivers.
However, to many gearheads, they symbolize Chrysler’s recent decline.
Now, the brand has given fans something to be excited about, as CEO Chris Feuell revealed that future models will include a halo car inspired by the sleek Halcyon concept.
The Halcyon, a futuristic electric sedan that some say resembles the Porsche Taycan, is reportedly set to fill the gap left by the Chrysler 300, which was discontinued in 2023.
Feuell added that the long-heralded Halcyon concept will feature alongside two other models planned for future release; a revamped Pacifica minivan and a new crossover.
Little else has been detailed or confirmed about the latter two vehicles, with much of the attention focused on the highly anticipated Halcyon.
In a new video, Feuell fueled fan excitement by claiming that Chrysler has been “working on bringing [the Halcyon] to market in a real, industrialized form that’s portable for customers.”
As reported by Road & Track, she added: “I also believe that there’s going to be a resurgence of the car segment.”
Feuell suggested that a car with “a beautiful design that has seamlessly integrated technology and an interior space that’s really clever and versatile” could reignite enthusiasm among Chrysler fans.
At this point, no timetable has been announced for the Halcyon-inspired car, with the first of the three models – the Pacifica refresh – scheduled for release in 2026, while the crossover is expected to follow later the same year.
Prior to this announcement, the Stellantis-owned brand – widely considered one of the “Big Three” in the American automotive industry alongside Ford and General Motors – was facing an uncertain future.
In January, it was revealed that development of Chrysler’s next car, a sleek crossover named the Airflow, had been paused.
The Airflow, which was expected to become the flagship model in Chrysler’s all-electric lineup by 2028, first appeared as a concept three years ago.
It showcased a low-set, sleek design with rounded lines and tall wheel arches.
However, Chrysler has been slow to bring the Airflow to market, and by 2023, reports suggested that its design and nameplate had been scrapped.
In what has been a challenging 12 months for the brand, it was also reported that Chrysler was forced to sell off its massive test track located in the middle of the desert in a desperate bid to cut costs.
The Arizona Proving Ground, located about 100 miles south of Las Vegas, was purchased by Chrysler from Ford in 2007.
Since its inception, the site has been used for hot-weather testing of automobiles.
The proving ground features around 70 miles of track, including a high-speed oval, various shorter handling tracks, and off-road testing areas.
Now, the company is preparing to offload the facility.
What’s more, in October, Chrysler recalled approximately 129,000 of its vehicles due to a dangerous issue that could potentially lead to crashes.
