Carnival Cancels Cruises Aboard Two of Their Most Popular Ships

There's nothing like the allure of sailing aboard an idyllic cruise ship traveling the Seven Seas. Such is especially the case for a cruise line as world-renowned as Carnival.

Ferrying adventurous travelers to practically every corner of the globe, Carnival offers guests a wide array of unique amenities and exciting on-board entertainment opportunities, including theatrical shows, late-night trivia competitions, and family movie nights beneath the stars.

Unfortunately, in a recent bit of bad news for most eager vacationers, Carnival has announced that several of its scheduled cruises have officially been canceled. The announcement comes as a direct result of changes made to Carnival's dry dock schedule.

Having a ship make repairs within a cruise ship's dry dock is a critical aspect of cruise maintenance, with most ships visiting their company's dry docks (on average) once every three to five years.

Of these last-minute changes, Carnival Magic and Carnival Horizon were the two ships taken out of circulation.

Previously, Carnival Magic postponed their voyage sailings from fall 2025 to spring 2026. Because of this change in schedule, Carnival had canceled the original sailings for spring of next year, allowing them to reschedule the cruises initially booked for this autumn.

Similarly, Carnival Horizon -- which will undergo dry dock repairs in spring 2026 -- announced that its Transatlantic voyage from Barcelona, Spain to Miami, Florida for June 15, 2026 had likewise been canceled.

Though the announcement served as an unwelcome surprise for most affected passengers, vacationers with a cruise scheduled for the near future simply had their voyages rerouted to a more convenient location. Namely, this involved rerouting Carnival's ships to Amber Cove, the company's private resort destination in the Dominican Republic.

Most other cruises, however, saw their scheduled travels canceled outright. For these unlucky passengers, Carnival has offered a full refund and the chance to find comparatively-priced cruises on other ships. Anyone who chooses the latter option will also be provided $50 in onboard credit per passenger, up to $100 per stateroom.
