Pierre Gasly, Alpine (Retired, lap 1): 4/10
Gasly showed amazing pace over a single lap around the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, setting the fastest lap in the first practice session and following that up with yet another Q3 appearance for Alpine. Unfortunately, the race came to an end quickly for the Frenchman, after his rear left tyre was contacted by Tsunoda’s front right, spinning the pair of them out of contention. It was a slightly optimistic move from gasly considering it was the opening lap, one I’m sure he regrets as points were on the cards.
Yuki Tsunoda, Red Bull (Retired, lap 2): 3/10
Having thanked his engineers for their rapid repair of his RB21 after a clumsy crash during FP2, Tsunoda damaged his Red Bull car again in an opening lap incident with Gasly. Having bent his rear wing on the barriers, the Japanese driver was unable to continue and pulled into the pits to retire. At least he made it into Q3 again, but expectations are only going to increase for Tsunoda. Points are a must in Miami.
