Valerie Bertinellirecently mourned a devastating personal loss on social media.
On April 19, the One Day at a Time and Hot in Cleveland alum, 64, took to Instagram with a carousel of photos honoring her cat, Dexter, years after his death.

"Feeling a little melancholy today. It’s been 12 years since Dexter passed," she captioned the update. "I love every single one of my animals, this guy though, he was special. He also got me through some tough times."
In the featured image, a younger version of Bertinelli's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, 34—whom she shares with the late Eddie Van Halen—embraced a cat as it lay its head on his shoulder.
Other segments showed a snap of Bertinelli with the feline, a shot of the cat by itself and a clip of Dexter walking toward the camera before rubbing on a boot.
"Batman reminds me a lot of Dex, same green eyes too," the Food Network personality continued. "I know it might seem weird that I still pine for a cat now and then, but what can I say? Love never dies. ?.."

In the comments, Bertinelli's followers showered her with love and support as she continued to grieve her beloved pet.
