Jason Gillespie accuses PCB of not paying him his Salary, labels this Pakistan player as Selfish

Australian cricketing legend and former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has opened up about the challenges he faced during his tenure with the Men in Green. Gillespie revealed that he is still awaiting payment for his work with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), describing the situation as disappointing.

Jason Gillespie became the Pakistan Test team coach in April 2024 but resigned in December. He was disappointed by management's decisions, which were made without his involvement. Gillespie also took over the white-ball team after South African cricketer and World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten resigned.

Speaking on the Pak Passion YouTube channel, Jason Gillespie revealed that he is still waiting for remuneration for his work. Gillespie remains optimistic that it will be sorted out in due time.

"I'm still waiting on some remuneration from work that's being done. So I'll just navigate through that in due course," Gillespie said.

"Admittedly, that's been a little bit disappointing, but hopefully that can get sorted sooner rather than later. But yeah, we'll learn. But yeah, as I said, hopefully that'll get sorted as soon as possible," he added.

Jason Gillespie's Tenure as Pakistan's Head Coach Marred by Ups and Downs

The former Australia fast bowler's tenure as Pakistan's head coach was marred by ups and downs, including a 2-0 home Test series loss to Bangladesh and a comeback 2-1 victory over England.

During his time, Gillespie was removed from the selection panel and had no influence over the team lineup, leading him to feel that his role had been diminished to just a "match day strategist."

Gillespie was willing to continue in this reduced capacity, but he resigned after the Pakistan Cricket Board decided not to renew assistant coach Tim Nielsen's contract without informing him.

I Think Salman Ali Agha is a High-End Talent - Jason Gillespie

During the same video, Gillespie praised Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, describing him as a high-end talent. He acknowledged the presence of players who might have been more focused on personal performances than the team's success.

"The fact that Salman Ali Agha was given that opportunity, I think he's a high-end talent. He's been around for a little while now. I think he's got a really mature head on his shoulders, and I think he can take things in his stride," Gillespie stated.

"I reckon there were probably players, without naming names, I could probably identify some players who I felt from the outside were more playing for themselves than for the team, without going into details," he added.

Pakistan players are currently involved in the Pakistan Super League 2025. The team will start their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026 with the ongoing tournament.
