All RCB batsmen were blindly slogging- Mohammad Kaif rips apart Virat Kohli and Co

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has lashed out at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for their reckless batting after they suffered a 5-wicket loss to Punjab Kings in the 14-over-per-side IPL 2025 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, April 18.

After the rain-curtailed match, Mohammad Kaif shared where Royal Challengers Bengaluru made the mistake and lost the game to Punjab Kings.

Notably, it was RCB’s third straight loss in home matches in the ongoing IPL 2025. However, they won all their away games this season.

Sharing his views on Royal Challengers Bengaluru's performance at home, Kaif said that it was not a 6-over match; they had 14 overs, but their batters blindly played their shots and lost wickets against the PBKS. However, the former Indian batter hailed Tim David and Nehal Wadhera for their brilliant knocks.

Instead of adjusting to the slow, spongy surface, Kaif pointed out that Royal Challengers Bengaluru batters kept swinging blindly, leading to yet another collapse at home.

It was the third time this season they struggled on a tough Bengaluru pitch, and in their latest game against PBKS, they couldn’t even last the full 14 overs in a rain-shortened match, where they were playing without a plan or patience.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru batters blindly played their shots: Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif said in a video posted on his X handle, “RCB's batsman, whoever was coming, blindly played their shots. This was a spongy pitch, where the ball was coming and stopping."

"Only a proper cricketing shot could have saved you. Two batsmen, Tim David, played his shot smartly. Look at his shot. He is playing while washing the ball. He is not slogging.”

The commentator said that Punjab Kings’ star Nehal Wadhera (33* off 19 balls) showed how it’s done. Coming in at number 5, Nehal stayed calm, picked the right moments, and guided his team home with smart cricket. Kaif said that the Bengaluru team should have batted patiently.

Kaif added, “Nehal Wadhera. His six against Suyash Sharma was a perfect shot. He flipped Bumnesh Kumar. Got the runs there. So, he washed the ball and hit the ball after it came into his batting box. You have to play like this on a tough pitch. But Royal Challengers Bengaluru made the mistake by attacking from the first.”

The former India slammed the RCB for repeating the same mistake as they lost three games at home due to their poor shot Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the pitch was a little tough.

Kaif said that the Bengaluru batters kept going for blind shots on a tricky pitch where patience was needed, failing to last even 14 overs against the PBKS.

The former India star signed off by saying, “I think the shot selection was very bad. I can understand the tough pitch. But it felt like RCB’s batters were playing with a shroud tied around their heads. They batted poorly in all their home games and lost the games."

"And now, Royal Challengers Bengaluru is lagging behind. They will have to win the home match. But Punjab’s Nehal Wadhera, what great batting he has done! He came in at number 5 and won the game. So, brother, well done.”
