Watch: Jitesh Sharma takes a blinder to dismiss Shreyas Iyer; Virat Kohli celebrates wildly

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma grabbed an absolute blinder to dismiss the Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer on Friday, April 18.

After the dismissal of the PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer in the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Virat Kohli went berserk and celebrated wildly at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Punjab Kings got a target of 96 runs to chase in the 14-over-a-side match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Opening batsmen Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh played their natural attacking brand of cricket from the start to take their team off to a flying start.

However, both the openers were back in the hut inside 4 overs. Shreyas Iyer, who walked in to bat at the No.3 spot, also failed miserably with the bat and got dismissed in the 8th over of the innings.

On the 4th ball of the over, Josh Hazlewood bowled a back-of-a-length ball outside off-stump, and the ball took off after landing on the pitch.

Shreyas Iyer went hard at the ball, and in the process, he ended up edging it behind the wickets, where Jitesh Sharma timed his jump to absolute perfection and took a stunning catch with both hands.

Seeing Shreyas Iyer being dismissed for 10-ball 7, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli was delighted, and he went berserk in wild celebrations.

I think experience is key first of all - Josh Hazlewood

Speaking ahead of the match in a video shared on IPL's website, the premier right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood said that they have got experienced players in the side, which is key to their success. He said:

"I think experience is key first of all. All three of our quicks are a bit different. No matter who takes that new ball, they have a role to play. The conditions dictate who takes the new ball. The other two bowlers are great new ball bowlers and I try to do my things. Powerplay has been the best part of our innings so far."

While talking about the conditions at the Chinnaswamy, Josh Hazlewood said:

"Yes, it's going to be interesting. The rain is falling at the moment. Quite a few storms in the last few nights. I know the outfield dries remarkably quick here. So, I think as soon as the rain stops, we will be out there pretty quick."

Josh Hazlewood also talked about the poor home record of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025. He stated:

"(On the home record) Yeah, I think the two games at home has been a great learning curve for us. Some of the guys have played here a lot while some haven't. I think in terms of the bowling front, we are enjoying bowling here as we are hitting the right lengths. Hopefully, we can replicate that tonight as powerplay wickets are really important."
