In a three-hour conversation with Curtiss King on Thursday (April 17), Top Dog Entertainment’s president spoke on all things TDE, including the high-profile rap battle between Drake and K-Dot. When asked about the rumored 18-minute version of “Euphoria,” Punch noted that the original version of the record was longer than the one that was unleashed on the world.

“I don’t know the length, but it was definitely longer,” Punch said. “It was definitely longer than the version that the world got. There was a lot of stuff that didn’t make it on there. … There was just some things in there that I didn’t think would have been beneficial in the long run to put in there. So I gave him my input on that or whatever and he took some of those things off.”

Earlier in the interview, Punch spoke about K-Dot’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” which renewed the whole beef last March.

“It had been bubbling for a while. We had been pretty close-mouthed about it,” Punch said. “He played the record for Top [Dawg]. I talked to Top and he told me a little bit about the record then I hit Dot like, ‘It’s going down?’ He said, ‘Yeah, we’ll see what’s up …,’ laughing.”

Billboard has reached out to Kendrick’s team for comment.

While the rap battle appears to be on pause for now, Drake has been fighting hard in court to prove that UMG — his and Kendrick’s label — defamed him with the success of K-Dot’s diss track “Not Like Us.” In an amended complaint filed late Wednesday, Drake’s attorneys claimed Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime show, watched by 133 million people and “million of children,” “revitalized the public’s attention” to lyrics calling Drake a “certified pedophile,” a diss that the Canadian superstar slams as false and defamatory.
