DENVER (KDVR) — Over 50,000 people living north of Denver are without power on Friday.
It is a dreary and soggy Friday, with rain and snow impacting roadways. Residents north of Denver are also reporting a large power outage that is impacting tens of thousands of people.
According to Xcel Energy's electric outage map at 10:20 a.m., over 57,000 customers are impacted by the 71 outages reported. These outages are in Westminster, Broomfield, Thornton and north of Northglenn.

They said that Xcel estimates power will be restored at 1 p.m. Northglenn police are stationed at major intersections to help direct traffic.
If you are at an intersection where the lights are out, treat it as a four-way stop.

Spring snow is often wet and heavy, and it can have an impact on trees and electrical wires.
Aside from power, the storm caused a lengthy closure on Interstate 70 Friday morning, leaving mountain travelers stranded for a few hours. Thankfully, the interstate has since reopened.
The snow is expected to taper off by Friday night into Saturday morning.
