Lionel Richie took to Instagram on April 16 to share a photo with an NBA legend at a recent soccer match.
The “Hello” singer posted the photo of himself with Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry on April 16 along with the caption, “Always inspired by those who lead with heart and excellence. Great seeing you @stephencurry30.

Both men are smiling brightly in the photo with Curry sporting a grey sweatshirt, a bejeweled turtle necklace and black slacks, while Richie is wearing a black leather jacket over a black hoodie. The pic was taken during the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2025 quarter-final first leg match between the Los Angeles Football Club and Inter Miami at BMO Stadium on April 2 in Los Angeles where Curry was seated behind Richie.
Fans were impressed to see the two legends in sports and music posing together. “Best picture ever !!!” wrote one, while another added, “Wow love seeing two amazing Men Changing the world one day at a TIME ✝️?️????❣️”

The American Idol judge recently announced he plans to publish his memoir, Truly, this fall. The book will chronicle his rise to fame as the co-lead singer of the Commodores along with his struggles with ADHD, his father’s death, his two divorces as well as the injury to his vocal cords that nearly cut his career short.
Curry is gearing up for the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Warriors take on the Rockets in Game 1 of the first round Sunday, April 20 night in Houston.
