Wendy's Issues Statement After Controversial Katy Perry Tweet ...Saudi Arabia

Where’s the beef? It’s between Wendy’s andKaty Perry—or is it?

The fast-food chain attempted to make nice after the drama its X account caused by suggesting Katy be shot back into space after her historic Blue Origin flight.

“We always bring a little spice to our socials, but Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world talent,” Wendy’s said in a statement to Rolling Stone on April 17.

This celebrity beef happened after Katy took a trip with Jeff Bezos’ space tourism company, Blue Origin, on April 14. The “Fireworks” singer was part of the first all-women crew to cross the Kármán line (the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space) since the 1960’s.

At the conclusion of the flight, X account @PopCrave tweeted, “Katy Perry has returned from space.” @Wendys then responded with, “Can we send her back?”

In a second tweet, @Wendys wrote, “When we said ‘women in STEM,’ this isn’t what we meant.”

Katy’s stans came out in droves to attack the tweet, but there was one person who approved of Wendy’s shade: Kesha. Hours after Wendy’s remark, the “TikTok” singer posted a photo of her smiling as she sipped from a Wendy’s cup.

Kesha likely has beef with Katy for working with Dr Luke (Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald). Kesha sued Dr. Luke in October 2014 over allegations of “physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse over a 10-year period.” He denied the claims and countersued for defamation. The two settled their cases in 2023.

Katy worked with Dr. Luke early on in her career, from “I Kissed a Girl” to “Teenage Dream” to “Roar.” She stopped working with Dr. Luke on Witness and Smile, the two albums she released amidst Kesha and Dr. Luke’s legal battle, only to reunite with him on 2024’s 143.

Many criticized Katy for working with Dr. Luke again, but she defended the decision on a Sept. 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy. “He was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with,” she said. “But the reality is [143] comes from me.”
