Atmos replacing underground pipe in three areas of Greeley over next 6 months

Atmos Energy is replacing several sections of underground pipe in Greeley over the next six-plus months in an effort to increase safety and reliability, as well as reduce greenhouse gases.

Work began earlier this month near East 18th Street and the U.S. 85 Bypass and is being completed in phases to minimize impacts on neighborhood traffic, according to a news release from Atmos Energy. The last phase is expected to be finished by October.

Atmos public affairs specialist Elena Palnova said the maps below indicate the areas in which work will definitely be completed, and the area descriptions indicate where work may need to extend to if crews determine more replacements are necessary once underground.

The three sections of replacements will be completed in four phases.

“We are working closely with Greeley town officials and our local fire department to minimize any disruption that may accompany these upgrades,” former Public Affairs Manager Kurtis Paradisa said before transferring to another position within the company. “In an effort to keep customers informed, our crews will place a door tag at your home before work begins, along with construction signs throughout your neighborhood.”

With the modernization projects, about 400 Atmos customers will receive new natural gas service lines. Atmos said. The company said those residents should expect to see technicians and contractors in the area

“With a vision to be the safest provider of natural gas services, we are modernizing our natural gas delivery system while also decreasing our carbon footprint,” Paradisa said. “Replacing pipelines reduces leaks and methane emissions.”
