Few things are as downright unbearable as spending five hours crammed into a stiff airline passenger seat as your flight crosses the Atlantic or Pacific. Fortunately, French seating manufacturer Stelia has a potential solution to that uncomfortable airline issue. And in a further bit of good news, that solution won't be geared exclusively towards first class passengers alone.
Earlier this month, Stelia specifically revealed its latest and greatest airplane accommodations. Dubbed Rendez-Vous, these new airline seating options will allow business class passengers additional leg room, temperature controls for their seats, and further storage for their personal belongings. The Rendez-Vous pods will also have sliding doors, along with the option to transform the adjoining seats into a double bed.
"We wanted you to feel like [you 're] at home, like a sofa," Alain Bordeau, Stelia's vice president, said as he unveiled the concept in Hamburg, Germany.
Through this innovative design, Bordeau expressed his belief that the Rendez-Vous would be the ideal option for anyone making lengthy trips overseas. "When you are in flight for 14, 15, sometimes 17 hours like from Asia to the U.S., you want to be free to move around," Bordeau observed. "To relax."
More recently, Stelia made aviation headlines through its awe-inspiring collaboration with Air France. Last month, the two companies introduced their La Premiere seating option for passengers. An elevated form of first class travel, La Premiere offers far more spacious seating options on Air France's flights, including private suites, first-rate meals, and exclusive airport lounge access.
While La Premiere is more directly geared towards first class travelers, Rendez-Vous is designed to cater towards a wider array of prospective airline passengers. This move comes as more and more international airline companies focus on passengers within the business class demographic, as seen through similar ventures like Qatar Airways' Qsuite and Japan's All Nippon Airways' The Room seating options.
