TV host Piers Morgan has been named Britain’s sexiest male celebrity – toppling two-time winner Jeremy Clarkson.
The Clarkson’s Farm star, and Sun columnist has been bumped into second place in the annual poll.
And Piers, who placed at number 40 last year, has responded with characteristic modesty and charity.
Talking to me, he said: “This just proves that British women are the smartest and most discerning in the world, and the most likely to appreciate genuinely magnetic sex appeal.
“My thoughts with Jezza, Becks and poor old Prince Hypocrite Harry at this very difficult time.”
Steamy website IllicitEncounters.com carried out the survey of 2,000 women.
Also making it into the top ten with Piers and Jeremy are Danny Dyer, Dermot O’Leary, Jonathan Ross, Tim Lovejoy, politician Robert Jenrick, Bob Mortimer, Ben Shephard and Romesh Ranganathan.
The poll’s spokeswoman, Jessica Leoni, said: “Even we were taken aback when Piers soared to the top of the table.
“His unapologetic style clearly taps into something deeper for a lot of women — confidence, conviction and not being afraid to ruffle feathers.”
I’m sure Piers would agree.
SCIENCE GETTING HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE Histories is one of the biggest success stories on children’s TV and is still going strong 16 years since it first aired.
Now, the gruesome trek into the archives has a new spin-off.
CBBC is launching Horrible Science, which will combine the same blend of sketches, fun facts, silly songs and jokes.
From dinosaurs to forces, and spectacular space to nanotech, it will delve into the science of the past, present and the future.
There will also be curriculum-linked education resources for schoolkids online at BBC Bitesize.
Patricia Hidalgo, Director of BBC Children’s and Education, said: “We know children and adults love learning about the past with Horrible Histories and we want to bring that magic formula to Horrible Science.”
Horrible Science will launch later this year – and the concept sounds like a no-brainer to me.

THE BBC will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a range of special programmes.
Coverage begins on May 5 with a live broadcast, VE Day 80.
There will also be specials of Antiques Roadshow, The Repair Shop, EastEnders, Saturday Kitchen and Who Do You Think You Are.
REBEL’S TODDLER PRINCESS

Appearing alongside Freddie Flintoff and Jason Isaacs, Rebel reveals that her toddler is called Royce and says: “I probably shouldn’t have named her after a British luxury car brand, she’s a bit high maintenance.
