Wink Martindale, a beloved fixture of game show television and the host of Tic-Tac-Dough, Gambit and more, has died. He was 91.
His died on Tuesday, April 15, in Rancho Mirage, Calif., where he was "surrounded by family and his beloved wife of 49 years, Sandra Martindale,” according to a press release.
Details regarding a cause of death have not been released at this time.

Martindale—who got his start in the radio industry—was best known for his hosting role on a number of popular game shows throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s, including work on Gambit, High Rollers, and most famously, Tic-Tac-Dough. Martindale hosted the CBS program, a version of the classic tic-tac-toe game, from its debut in 1978 until his exit in 1985.
His other TV game show credits include gigs on Headline Chasers, and Bumper Stumpers, which Martindale created and co-produced. He also hosted game shows based on Trivial Pursuit and Boggle in the '90s, plus the Lifetime game show Debt, which ran from 1996 to 1998.
More recently, Martindale made appearances on various programs and commercials, including episodes of Most Outrageous Game Show Moments, The Chase, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006, and was also one of the first inductees into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame.
In addition to his wife, Martindale is survived by his sister Geraldine, his daughters Lisa, Lyn and Laura and a "large extended family full of grandchildren and great grandchildren," according to the press release. He also leaves behind an "honorary son" Eric and his beloved Chihuahua, Dude.
