Parents, check your pantry.
More than 25,000 units of Good & Gather baby food are voluntarily being recalled for elevated levels of lead.
This recall affects the 4-ounce tubs of Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Purées. No other flavors are currently being recalled.
The recall on the Target store brand item was first initiated on Mach 12, updating the distinction on April 3 to a Class II event, meaning that the use of the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” however the probability of serious health issues is “remote.”
According to the CDC, “exposure to lead can seriously harm a child's health and cause well-documented health effects” like “damage to the brain and nervous system.” Children under 6 are at the greatest risk.
Two specific batches were included in the recall:
Lot Number 4169 with a Best by date of December 9, 2025Lot Number 4167 with a Best by date of December 7, 2025.Consumer Reports shared a statement from Target: : “At Target, we’re committed to providing safe, high-quality products for our guests. We require our suppliers to comply with all applicable food safety standards and federal, state, and local regulations. This recall involved a limited amount of product, which we took immediate action to remove from our shelves.”
Anyone who may still be in possession of the recalled item—manufactured by Fruselva USA—should not feed it to their child and is urged to discard it immediately. If you suspect or are concerned about lead exposure, contact your pediatrician right away.
Full refunds are being offered—to get one, call Target Guest Relations at 800-440-0680 or visit a store near you.
