Two Vampire Diaries stars are raising the stakes in real life — fans of the show are delighted to discover that Zach Roerig and Arielle Kebbel are a real-life couple.
During a recent meet-and-greet event during the I Was Feeling Epic fanfest, a Brazilian fan posted a video to Instagram of Roerig bringing Kebbel flowers at her autograph table. Kebbel looked stunned at first, but then the two shared a kiss in front of onlookers as the fans clapped and cheered. www.instagram.com/p/DIISAm6NjlV/
The caption on the Instagram video translates to "I love a couple ? ❤️ The ultimate romantic,” to which Kebbel replied in the comments with three heart emojis.
Underneath Kebbel's reply, a fan wrote, "You both are freaking adorable," and another added, "Sooooooooo happy for you both ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."
A third fan added, "y’all are everything. So happy for you girl!", and a fourth fan wrote, "This is the sweetest!! So happy for the both of you ❤️❤️."
The Vampire Diaries has been off the air for eight years, but Kebbel and Roerig, who played Lexi Branson and Matt Donovan, respectively, on the show, reconnected in 2023 when they co-starred on Hallmark Channel's Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance. In the film, the two play exes who reunite on an archeological dig in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The two characters find romance as they compete for the same research grant.
Perhaps that's where the two fell for each other because that same year at a Vampire Diaries fan event, Roerig said of Kebbel, "I thought she was one of the most beautiful girls to walk on [the Vampire Diaries] set. Twelve years later, and I can't tell the difference."
Or maybe that was Roerig shooting his shot?
Kebbel is currently starring on Rescue: HI Surf on FOX, while Roerig is appearing on the upcoming Netflix series The Waterfront, which premieres June 19. It is written and executive produced by Kevin Williamson, who was an original creator of The Vampire Diaries.
