This week, the Ackland Art Museum is hosting a free two-night public event to celebrate the highly influential film producer Christine Vachon, whose resume includes films like Velvet Goldmine, Boys Don’t Cry, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Far From Heaven, Carol, Past Lives, and The Brutalist – among many others. Tuesday, April 15, the Ackland will host a screening of “Velvet Goldmine” at the Varsity Theater; then on Wednesday, April 16, Vachon herself will be at the Varsity for a public conversation moderated by UNC’s Michelle Robinson. (Both events start at 7:30.)
