DRIVERS have been urged to check their kids’ car seats after more than 30,000 were recalled over a terrifying safety issue.
Manufacturer Chicco is recalling a large number of specific booster seats which fail to properly restrain a child.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said design issues with the product could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Chicco has now issued the recall for 30,984 of its MyFit Zip Air Harness and Booster child restraint seats with model numbers 07079561970070 and 04079561190070.
The manufacturer said the product could allow for excessive chest movement in a crash, if in a certain configuration.
A solution is now being formed by Chicco but it is not yet clear when this will be available for consumers, reports The News Journal.
If you believe you bought one of the affected booster seats, you can contact Chicco’s customer service on 1-877-424-4226.
You also may wish to contact NHTSA’s hotline on 888-327-4236, or check its website.
Chicco’s MyFit Zip Air Harness and Booster seat is “designed to grow with children from toddler through big kid with easy transition from five-point harness to vehicle seat belt.”
The seat provides “reassuring protection” from a “rigid shell” and “energy-absorbing foam” around the head and torso, according to the product’s listing.
This comes just weeks after drivers were cautioned about a recall which could affect 30,000 vehicles.
Ford issued the recall with the NHTSA for thousands of its 2020 to 2022 Escape and 2021 to 2023 Bronco Sport models which could have been incorrectly repaired following a previous recall.
According to Ford’s records, certain Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles did not have the correct software update remedy installed on the vehicle.
As a result, the “underlying condition” from the previous recall may still exist, resulting in a serious fire risk for drivers.
According to the recall report, Ford stated that liquid fuel and/orfuel vapor gathered underneath a hot surface could result in a fire.
“A fuel leak may result in fuel odor both outside andinside the vehicle,” the report stated.
“If the fuel leak initiates a fire that progresses, the customermay notice smoke or flames emanating from the engine compartment or underbody.”
Drivers of these vehicles should take immediate action to avoid injury.
Iconic carmaker recalls more than 44,000 motors over ‘sudden’ dashboard failure that increases risk of crash
A HUGE car brand has issued an urgent recall for more than 44,000 vehicles, due to an error that increases the risk of crashes.
Volkswagen Group of America is recalling thousands of Audis due to a software issue with the panel display.
The display could fail to show vital safety information, such as warning lights and the speedometer, thus putting drivers at risk.
All of the affected motors are 2021 models of the luxury vehicles.
If you have one of the affected models, it is advised to stop using it immediately, and return it to a dealer.
Once returned, dealers will update the instrument panel for you, free of charge.
Owners of the recalled vehicles are expected to receive notification letters on May 30.
