Mizzou lands commitment from Arizona State transfer big man Shawn Phillips Jr. 

Arizona State transfer big man Shawn Phillips Jr. is heading back to the SEC.

Phillips, who began his career at LSU, announced Sunday that he has committed to play for Mizzou. He shared the news on social media with his agency.

    Phillips played his freshman season at LSU. He completed his sophomore and junior seasons at Arizona State.

    At ASU, Phillips played in 53 games, making 23 starts. In 2023-24, the 7-foot, 245-pound big played 310 minutes in 22 contests for 14.1 minutes per game. Phillips increased his playing time to 18 minutes per game in 2024-25.

    This past season, Phillips averaged 5.4 points per game while shooting 57.3% from the field. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds per game, up from 3.3 the previous season.

    Phillips scored a season-high 15 points against Texas Tech on Feb. 12. On March 11, he had a double-double against Kansas State, logging 11 points and a season-high 14 rebounds.
