Kieran Culkin Crashed Jon Hamm’s SNL Monologue To Argue About Mad Men Vs. Succession

You might be surprised that frequent Studio 8H fixture Jon Hamm hasn’t actually been inducted into the Five Timers Club yet—that’s because the Emmy winner has actually only hosted Saturday Night Live four times as of last night’s Easter episode (which also saw Lizzo return as musical guest for the fourth time).? However, Hamm has cameoed on SNL plenty since that last hosting gig—a whopping 14 times, in fact, the actor explained during his opening monologue. “Making a cameo is even more special than being the host, which is something Lorne’s told me many times,” he joked, noting that “nothing beats that moment when you walk out unexpectedly” into a sketch as a special guest. And viewers got to see exactly that when Kieran Culkin hightailed it to 30 Rock from the Palace Theatre, where the actor has been starring in Broadway’s Glengarry Glen Ross with Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr. The recent Oscar winner (A Real Pain) and former SNL host good-naturedly joined Hamm onstage, much to the Don Draper actor’s chagrin. “I’m a huge, huge star and I’m doing really well all by myself,” Hamm complained, and jokingly remained annoyed even after Kieran kindly reminded Jon that we all know what he’s packing in those grey sweatpants.Soon, the two stars were arguing over which of their acclaimed TV dramas is better, Mad Men or Succession. (We’re Team Succession, sorry Jon!) Spoiler alert: All was well between the lads by the time goodnights rolled around, with Culkin sticking around to close out the episode alongside this week’s host, rather than getting to God's country.
