COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- On a day when Buckeye fans got a glimpse of the future, Ohio State provided a nod to its most recent championship season.
Ohio State unveiled its championship rings during the annual spring game Saturday between the first and second quarters in a ceremony at midfield. The team's captains came up with the design of the three rings, which commemorates the national championship, the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl victories within the College Football Playoff.
One ring opens up to reveal a piece of the confetti from the national championship game while another is personalized with a player's last name, showcasing the score from the win over Notre Dame along with the year and the trophies won during Ohio State's playoff run.
"All that hard work, all that dedication paid off in the end," former offensive lineman Donovan Jackson said. "I'm gonna think of all the four years of dedication that I put in with this university, this team and the guys that I was with. I wouldn't have wanted to do it any other way with any other group of guys."
The Buckeyes captured their ninth national title in school history after going on an unprecedented run in the newly-expanded 12-team playoff, defeating Tennessee, Oregon, Texas and Notre Dame along the way.
The national championship celebration tour isn't over quite yet. The Buckeyes will make a trip to the White House on Monday for a reception hosted by President Donald Trump.
