Auburn cornerback Devin Williams reportedly suffered a season-ending knee injury during spring camp.
That news was first reported by Auburn Undercover’s Nathan King on Saturday afternoon. The report notes this is the second consecutive offseason that a young Auburn corner has sustained a serious knee injury in spring camp. Last year, Tyler Scott injured his knee during the spring and missed all of 2024.
Williams is not expected to be able to return in time for the 2025 season. However, the Tigers do have some good depth at the cornerback position with players like Kayin Lee, Jay Crawford, Raion Strader and fellow freshman Blake Woodby. Lee and Crawford are both returning starters from last year’s team and each logged more than 500 snaps in 2024, per Pro Football Focus.
Williams was a big recruit for Auburn in the class of 2025 and still has a bright future. He was the No. 367 overall player and the No. 35 cornerback in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Hugh Freeze is entering a pivotal third season as Auburn’s head coach. The Tigers are 5-11 in SEC play over his first 2 years in charge but will be looking to take a significant step forward in 2025.
