Shafaq News/ Turkish President RecepTayyip Erdogan on Friday accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza anddestabilizing the region, describing its actions as “state terrorism” andurging international intervention.
Speaking at the Antalya DiplomacyForum, Erdogan claimed Israel had killed more than 50,800 people in Gaza,including women, children, and journalists. “If this is not barbarism, what isit? … Israel is a terrorist state.”
He argued that remaining silent in theface of the Gaza offensive amounted to complicity. “For a year and a half,Israel has openly carried out genocide against the Palestinian people,trampling international law and ignoring basic human rights,” he stated,calling on the UN Security Council and world governments to halt the bloodshedand support Palestinians.
Turkiye has also suspended bilateraltrade with Israel and formally joined South Africa’s genocide case againstIsrael at the International Court of Justice.
The Syrian Situation
Turning to Syria, Erdogan accusedIsrael of inciting sectarian and ethnic divisions to disrupt what he called the“December 8 revolution” that led to the removal of Syrian President Basharal-Assad. “Israel is trying to dynamite the revolution by turning minorities inSyria against the government,” he said.
He argued that Israeli strikes on Syriaand Lebanon were destabilizing the region and weakening efforts to combatISIS militants. “Israel is becoming a problematic country thatdirectly threatens the region.”
“Whoever wants to inflict moresuffering on the Syrian people should be prepared to pay the price,” he said,warning, “Syria’s security is our security.”
