Sam’s Club promises investigation after inconsistent food court hours leaves shoppers ‘dropping memberships’

SAM’S Club is facing heat after a shopper slammed the store for inconsistent food court hours and empty shelves and threatened to cancel their membership over it.

The customer blasted the chain in a fiery post on X, calling out the confusion and poor service.

They claimed they were told the food court in Saline, Michigan, was closed at 6 pm even though others stay open until 7 pm.

“S**t like this is why I’m dropping my membership,” the user wrote on X, tagging @SamsClub.

“Closed at 6 pm they tell me. Others close at 7 pm. All run out of basic items OFTEN,” they added.

They pointed to rival Costco, writing, “Costco Cafe is open as long as there are members in the building.”

A photo posted alongside the message showed the store’s café shuttered and empty.

Sam’s Club responded to the post, asking the customer to “join the pm [private message]” to continue the discussion privately.

    CUSTOMER FURY

It comes as Sam’s Club is already facing scrutiny from shoppers unhappy with other parts of the experience.

In a separate post on X, another user said they were reconsidering buying a membership.

“[I] was thinking about getting a @SamsClub membership but after the 20 minutes cafe wait for 2 pretzels and the inaccurate information given to me for my curbside order…I will be rethinking the decision,” the person wrote.

They ended the post with “#costcogreaterthansamsclub.”

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” Sam’s Club replied within minutes, writing.

The complaints come amid a wave of backlash over changes to store operations and customer experience.

    RECEIPT CHECK LINE

Sam’s Club recently faced criticism over its aggressive receipt checks at the exit.

To address it, the company rolled out new airport-style scanners to verify purchases automatically.

The walk-through system has received mixed reviews.

Some shoppers branded the machines “creepy” and “security theater.”

“You don’t need to scan me,” one person said online.

“If this becomes mandatory, I can always go to Costco or BJ’s,” another added.

The company is also cracking down on membership sharing, much like rival Costco.

One shopper on Facebook revealed Sam’s Club is phasing out physical cards in favor of its app.

The new system is designed to tie access to a verified account, limiting card swaps.
