The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Friday for the fourth consecutive day, decreasing 1.5 cents to $4.863, a day after dropping 1 cent.
According to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, the average price has dropped 4.2 cents over the past four days, including 1.2 cents on Wednesday.
The average price is 4.4 cents less than one week ago and 47.5 cents lower than one year ago but 16.7 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.572 since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped for the sixth time in seven days following a run of 11 increases in 12 days totaling 14.2 cents, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.21. It has dropped 5.8 cents over the past seven days, including 1.1 cents on Wednesday.
The national average price is 42 cents lower than a year ago but 12.9 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.806 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“Oil Price Information Service reports that despite ongoing planned and unplanned maintenance at Southern California refineries, wholesale gasoline prices dropped substantially on news that large supplies of imported gasoline are arriving soon,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.
