Hot in Cleveland star Valerie Bertinelli turned heads on April 10 when she posted a throwback photo of herself in 1979 doing promotional shots for the CBS sitcom One Day at a Time.
Most commenters were quick to praise her beauty "then and now," but one commenter drew ire when she wrote, "Why are you trying so hard to stay relevant?!"
Bertinelli was not having it, firing back with, "Why are you trying so hard to get me to notice you? I'm sure you have a beautiful life in Texas, Kelly, you don’t need a has-been celebrity to validate you," to which the commenter replied, "CELEBRITY?! Girl, bye."

Bertinelli's fans were quick to back her up, with one replying, "Ouch. You burned her," and another wrote, "Wonderful reply! You look amazing in any picture. Enjoy them and they are all beautiful!"
"Mean! Why do you say that? A good soul, sharing life experiences and vulnerability with all the joys and sorrows of her life experiences is honest & giving to others. That is a gift! Your perspective could use an adjustment," wrote another supportive fan.
In the caption on the photo, which shows the then-19-year-old actress in a plaid shirt, black underwear and high heels, Bertinelli said that this was one of the "throwaway photo sessions" where they would "do the required poses" for CBS and then goof around at the end.
However, one of the photos "ended up on the cover of US with a headline about me growing up too fast," wrote the former Food Network star.
"I mean, they weren't really wrong," she added. "Months later, I would meet [Eddie Van Halen], get engaged and be married within the span of eight months."
Bertinelli married the late rocker in 1981. They were married until 2007 and shared one son, Wolfgang Van Halen, 24. Bertinelli can most recently be seen as a frequent lifestyle expert on The Drew Barrymore Show and her new Game Show Network competition show Bingo Blitz premieres Monday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT.
