Demi Moore’s daughter cryptically critiques ex-stepdad Ashton Kutcher

It looks like Ashton Kutcher’s reportedly obnoxious behavior during his six-year marriage to Demi Moore could help sink his efforts to repair his public image — after he’s also been called out in the past two years for his close friendships with famous men, Danny Masterson and Sean “Diddy” Combs, who have since been convicted or accused of rape and sex trafficking.

Moore first portrayed Kutcher as somewhat inconsiderate and self-involved — as well as unfaithful and demanding of sexual threesomes — in her 2019 best-selling memoir, “Inside Out.” Now, Moore’s youngest daughter,  31-year-old Tallulah Willis, has shared a “cryptic” social media post that suggests that Kutcher was a less-than-ideal stepparent to her and her two sisters when he was married to their mother from 2005 to 2011.

Tallulah Willis, whose father is Moore’s first husband, Bruce Willis, dropped a cryptic comment Wednesday about an apparently challenging experience she had with an unnamed stepparent in response to an Instagram post from Gwyneth Paltrow. The actor and Goop lifestyle guru was promoting a new episode of her Goop podcast, which she said focuses on “messy, beautiful, and often surprising realities of stepparenting.”

In response to this particular topic, Tallulah Willis wrote, “I have a lot to say on this! Especially how to move through an ex-step parent.”

When a fan asked Tallulah Willis if she was saying she had to “move through” her experience with Kutcher, the daughter of a former Hollywood super couple admitted that it would have been preferable for her to share these thoughts in a “a private message.”

“But, yes, I have personal experience with this,” Tallulah Willis replied, while noting that Paltrow’s podcast presented an “important conversation” to be had.

Tallulah Willis also insisted that “no one needs to be a bad guy for a situation to be healed.” But people knew she was talking about Kutcher and whatever issues went down between her, him, her mother and her two sisters, Rumer and Scout. Another fan replied: “I imagine it’s difficult and painful baggage.”

Moore’s marriage to Kutcher generated tons of headlines in the 2000s. She had been one of the most famous and well-paid actresses in Hollywood and was coming out of her high-profile marriage to Willis, a superstar in his own right. But much of the focus was on Moore and Kutcher’s 15-year age difference. She was 40, and he was 25 when they began dating, but she wrote that she didn’t feel the age difference and considered their love to be “pure and simple and profound.”

As Moore maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship with Willis, she also tried to ease Kutcher into her life with her three daughters. Even at his young age, Moore wrote, Kutcher tried to be “responsible, sincere” and understood of the responsibility of being a stepfather.

“He wanted to be part of our gang,” Moore wrote, adding that her daughters “loved Ashton” — at least in the beginning. During the marriage, Kutcher also appeared at public events with Moore and her daughters, presenting himself as cool, friendly young stepdad.

But over time, Kutcher became “less and less present” in the marriage, Moore wrote. She stayed madly in love with him and wanted to please him, even after he suggested they have a threesome. Moore then learned of his first infidelity in 2010– with a woman he met while they were at a bowling alley with her oldest daughter, Rumer.

Over time, Moore said her daughters got fed up with seeing her become “dependent” on Kutcher, even “addicted” to him. “I did all the things that addicts do,” Moore wrote. “I prioritized my addiction over my needs and the needs of my family. I made strange, unconvincing justifications for my behavior — and his.”

The second time that Kutcher reportedly cheated on Moore was on the weekend of their sixth anniversary in 2011. Future convicted rapist Masterson was involved. Her husband’s good friend and “That ’70s Show” co-star was hosting his bachelor party in San Diego before marrying Bijou Phillips. A few days later, news broke that Kutcher picked up a young blonde woman at Masterson’s party, claiming he was separated, and they spent the night together. Moore and Kutcher subsequently separated and file for divorce.

During Moore’s marriage to Kutcher, she said she began drinking again after decades of being sober. Even after breaking up with Kutcher, her partying increased and she suffered a well-publicized medical emergency in 2012 when she suffered a seizure after smoking synthetic cannabis and inhaling nitrous oxide. For the next three years, Moore’s daughters cut her out of their lives. They then went public with their individual efforts at recovery for substance abuse, eating disorders and other issues, while also dealing with the challenges of growing up the offspring of Hollywood royalty.

Moore eventually checked herself into rehab and reconciled with her daughters. In recent years, Moore has enjoyed a career resurgence and even attained icon status, following the publication of her acclaimed memoir and her splashy return to acting. In 2024, she starred in “The Substance,” art-house body horror film about an aging Hollywood star going to extreme lengths to maintain a youthful appearance. Moore began 2025 as a contender for a best actress Oscar.

Moore’s daughters emerged as her biggest cheerleaders as she promoted “The Substance.” They walked the red carpet with her at the movie’s premiere, then offered their public support after she lost the best actress Oscar to Mikey Madison on March 2.

Meanwhile, Kutcher’s public profile has suffered a number of hits, including those related to reports about his treatment of Moore. He subsequently married popular actor Mila Kunis, who also appeared with him and Masterson in “That 70s Show.” They had two children.

But Kutcher and Kunis faced severe, prolonged backlash for character letters they wrote on behalf of Masterson, before he was sentenced to 30 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of two counts of rape. They praised their friend as a “role model” and an “exceptional person” — views that Masterson’s accusers said “trivialized” his crimes and directly questioned their testimony.

In the past year, Kutcher also has faced scrutiny over his close friendship with Combs, who was indicted in September on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transpiration to engage in prostitution. Questions have emerged over what Kutcher knew about Combs’ now-infamous “freak-off” parties, which are at the heart of the criminal indictment against the music mogul, according to the New York Times. At these marathon sexual orgies, participants were alleging forced to engage in sexual acts that Combs would record for his pleasure.

Combs and Kutcher’s friendship reportedly goes back to the early 2000s and he co-hosted one of the rapper’s supposedly more tame, star-studded White Parties in 2009. Kutcher once gleefully said they had become “fast friends.”

But following Combs’ indictment, a clip from Kutcher’s 2019 appearance on “Hot Ones” faced particular scrutiny, according to the New York Post. In the clip from the YouTube talk show, Kutcher slyly talked about Combs and his notorious parties. “I’ve got a lot I can’t tell,” Kutcher said. “So, uh,” he said before pausing.

“Can’t tell that one, either,” Kutcher laughed. “I’m actually cycling through them. … Diddy party stories, man — that was some weird memory lane thing.”
