How many career wins does Rory McIlroy have? Northern Irishman seeks fifth major at the Masters

Rory McIlroy will start his quest to achieve major glory in the Masters after last season’s catalogue of near-misses in golf’s biggest events.

The Northern Irishman, who endured heartbreak at the 2024 US Open, is among the favourites to end his Augusta woes this week.

The world number two then struggled at The 152nd Open at Royal Troon as his long wait for a fifth major title went on.

But the 35-year-old has still added to his glittering CV in 2024, winning another three big tournaments and has started the 2025 season in fine style too.

He’ll now be hoping for more hardware throughout the year and finally end his major drought.

How many career wins does McIlroy have?

McIlroy has a total of 43 career victories.

He has four major titles, 28 wins on the PGA Tour, 18 on the European Tour, one on each of the PGA Tour of Australasia and Asian Tour, as well as four other global victories.

After winning the Zurich Classic in April 2024, he became the first player to reach 25 PGA Tour wins (regular season events and majors) since 2005, after Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh did so 19 years ago.

His most recent win came at the Players Championship after seeing off JJ Spaun in a three-hole play-off.

Since McIlroy won his first PGA Tour trophy in 2010, there have only been two years that he has not tasted success, and they came in 2017 and 2013.

But since 2018, he has won a tournament every single year.

He has won The Open, the US Open and the PGA Championship twice and also claimed glory at The Players, the BMW PGA Championship and has three World Golf Championships.

While he holds four major wins, he has been waiting a long time for his fifth, with his last success in the showpiece tournaments coming at the 2014 PGA Championship.

However, he continues to win on the tour and is surely moving closer to another major crown.

In fact, Dame Laura Davies told talkSPORT that she believes there is ‘a bit of a difference’ about McIlroy ahead of the Masters.

It remains the only Major McIlroy is yet to win as he eyes the career Grand Slam, 11 years on from winning the Open and PGA Championship just a month apart.

He would become only the sixth player in the modern era to win all four Majors and the first since Tiger Woods in 2000.

McIlroy’s best finish at the Masters came three years ago when he ended the week in second place, three shots behind Scottie Scheffler.

Asked if it could finally be his year, Davies told Breakfast: “Yeah, without a doubt, he’s already won three times this year, two on the PGA Tour, looks confident.

“It’s all about can he, if he gets into contention, which you could assume he’s going to get into contention because he does virtually every week. Can he just hold it together to get that personal Grand Slam of all four Majors?

“I think he’s moved on from the last few years because the way he finished a few of the tournaments that he’s won recently has been very, very impressive.

“And that’s why we’re all going to watch this week because that’s fascinating in itself. And the trouble is for him, there’s so many good players playing really well at the moment.”
