Arizona men’s basketball built on its star-studded 2025 freshman class by adding five-star guard Brayden Burries on Wednesday.
Burries, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound combo guard, averaged 21.1 points (48.1% shooting) across 22 games on the EYBL circuit last summer playing alongside fellow Arizona commit Bryce James, who is LeBron James’ son.
Burries, the No. 11 prospect in the 2025 class, chose Arizona over Tennessee, Alabama, Oregon and USC.

He committed shortly after his McDonald’s All-American Game teammate, Gilbert Perry forward Koa Peat, had done so on March 27. Both were among the final three top-15 players in the class to commit.
The trio of Burries, Peat and James are all clients of Klutch Sports, which was founded by LeBron James’ close friend, Rich Paul.
What will Brayden Burries bring to Arizona?
Burries can offer creation help for an Arizona team that will need it, with Caleb Love out of eligibility while Jaden Bradley appears to be returning.
Adam Finkelstein of 247 Sports says Burries can provide versatility going from on or off the ball, which could play well next to the similar Bradley.
While he is focused primarily on scoring, Burries possesses soft hands, solid floor vision, and a reliable enough handle to have some on/off ball versatility. He is also an excellent rebounding guard. Defensively, he is fully engaged, physical, and competitive, if not ultra-quick.
Overall, Burries is a strong and physical scoring guard, who can get his buckets in a variety of ways, but also not one dimensional because of his ability to take reps at the point guard spot, his contributions on the defensive end, the glass, and with the competitiveness of his overall approach.
Arizona’s 2025 class ranks fifth nationally after the Burries decision. The class ranks second among Big 12 teams.
