Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday expressed his strong disapproval of party members organizing large meetings in hotels, urging them to utilize the party headquarters instead.
Talking to media, Naveen said, “I would like to state here that I disapprove of any quite large meetings in hotels held by party members. They have the party office ‘Sankha Bhawan’, which is a large building where they have been told they should hold their meetings and they should do so”.
Naveen further stated that former MLA Pravat Tripathy does not belong to the BJD.
Tripathy was expelled from the BJD some years ago because he was indicted in the chit-fund case and has spent some years in jail. He doesn’t belong to the party, Naveen stated.
The BJD President also came out in strong defense of VK Pandian, asserting that the latter is not involved in any party activities and should not be blamed for anything.
Naveen clarified that Pandian, who left the party over 10 months ago, is not involved in any of the party’s work.
“Karthikeyan Pandian, in the past, has done a lot of good work not only for the state but for the party. So, he shouldn’t be criticized or blamed for anything. Also, he left the party more than 10 months ago and is not involved in any of the party’s work”, Naveen said.
