The Nuggets fired Michael Malone, the winningest coach in franchise history, with three games remaining in the 2024-25 season on Tuesday, a league source told The Denver Post.
Malone’s lead assistant, David Adelman, will take over as the team’s interim head coach. Denver will face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
Malone’s tenure ends with a 471-324 record. He led the Nuggets to their first NBA championship in franchise history. But his firing comes in the midst of the team’s first four-game losing streak since March 2023 — a slump that has jeopardized a playoff spot with three games left.
