Aston Martin’s test and reserve driver Felipe Drugovich will swap simulator screens for the real thing this Friday, climbing into Fernando Alonso’s AMR25 for the opening practice session at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The talented Brazilian and 2022 FIA Formula 2 Champion will be tasked with gathering vital data to fine-tune the team’s weekend strategy while racking up more Formula 1 mileage.
With over 9,100 km already under his belt in F1 machinery, Drugovich’s no rookie when it comes to handling the big toys.
The Bahrain track isn’t unfamiliar territory for the 24-year-old. Back in 2023, he stepped up during pre-season testing to cover for an injured Lance Stroll.
This weekend marks his sixth FP1 outing with Aston Martin since joining the Silverstone squad in 2022, his last taste of on-track action coming just last December in Abu Dhabi.

"I'm very happy to be getting out in the F1 car again, especially so early in the season," commented Drugovich.
"I've been preparing on the simulator to get a feel for the car, and Bahrain is a track I know well and really enjoy driving. I'm excited to contribute and give the team the data they need to perform at their best this weekend.
"Thanks to the whole team for their continued support."

"We're pleased to offer Felipe this opportunity to drive the AMR25 in Bahrain," added Aston CEO and tam principal Andy Cowell.
"He has been an integral part of our team's simulator programme at the AMRTC and consistently provides valuable and insightful feedback that helps drive the development of the car.
Felipe is a trusted pair of hands, and we're confident he’ll do a great job in FP1 and contribute to our preparations for the race weekend."
