DENVER (KDVR) — One person died after a car reportedly drove off an overpass and crashed into a light rail train in Lone Tree early Tuesday morning.
At around 1:45 a.m., the South Metro Fire Rescue said crews were called to the crash near 10200 Station Way on the tracks near the C-470 and Interstate-25 interchange.
According to crews, a vehicle drove off the overpass onto the tracks and crashed with a light rail train. The car was reportedly pinned between the train and the wall.
FOX31 Newsletters: Sign up to get breaking news sent to your inboxAn operator and a passenger were on the train and were reportedly uninjured. An occupant of the vehicle was confirmed dead by South Metro Fire Rescue.
Crews are working to move the train, and South Metro Fire Rescue is clearing the scene.
The Colorado State Patrol and Lone Tree police are investigating the crash. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the northbound I-25 onramp from eastbound C-470 is closed. Morning commuters are asked to take another route.
