Colorado bankruptcy filings increase 14% in March

DENVER — Colorado bankruptcy filings increased 14% in March, a slower pace than in recent months. Colorado filings increased 20% in January and February.

The state recorded 730 bankruptcy filings during March, compared with 639 for the same period a year ago. Individual filings totaled 716, up from 625 in March 2024. Business filings totaled 14, the same as the prior year.

    That’s according to a BizWest analysis of U.S. Bankruptcy Court data. Numbers cited include all new filings, including open, closed and dismissed cases.

    In the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado, only Weld County recorded an increase in March filings, with Boulder and Larimer counties unchanged and Broomfield showing a decline.

    • Boulder County recorded 26 bankruptcy filings in March, unchanged from the prior year. Boulder County recorded 19 bankruptcy filings in February 2025. Year-to-date filings total 65, up 12% from 58 for the same period last year.

    • The City and County of Broomfield recorded six bankruptcy filings in March, down from seven the prior year. Broomfield recorded seven bankruptcy filings in February 2025. Year-to-date filings total 26, up 44% from 18 for the same period last year.

    • Larimer County filings totaled 37 in March, the same as the prior year. Larimer recorded 33 bankruptcy filings in February 2025. Year-to-date filings total 110, up 39% from 79 for the same period last year.

    • Weld County bankruptcy filings totaled 56 in March, up 17% from 48 a year ago. Weld recorded 44 bankruptcy filings in February 2025. Year-to-date filings total 151, up 29% from 117 for the same period last year.

    March filings included:

    • MAPRAgency Inc., dba Comprise, of Boulder, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, March 4, listing assets of $459,981 and liabilities of $1,770,897. Case No. 25-11092-TBM, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Denver.

    • Canyon Creek Villas LLC of Boulder, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, March 28, listing assets and liabilities of $10 million to $50 million. Case No. 25-11683 KHT, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Denver.
