Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav didn't have a great outing with the bat in the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The 20th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Suryakumar Yadav looked absolutely scratchy during his stay at the crease in the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The middle-order batter didn't get his timing right and even got a reprieve in his innings, thanks to a miss-commutation from Jitesh Sharma and Yash Dayal.
On the 3rd ball of the 12th over, Yash Dayal deceived Suryakumar Yadav with a back-the-hand slower delivery. The Mumbai Indians batter went for a heave across the line but ended up getting a big top edge that ballooned up in the air, and it seemed that it would be an easy catch.
Keeper-batter Jitesh Sharma signaled for it and hared towards the ball. Yash Dayal, on the other hand, was watching the ball as he moved a bit to his right and steadied himself. The pacer got both his hands on it, but at the same time, Jitesh also charged in, and both collided.
Jitesh Sharma and Yash Dayal engaged in a massive collision, and because of that, the pacer lost hold of the ball, and it went down. Dayal's hands made contact with Jitesh Sharma's face as Suryakumar Yadav was given a life.
It was clearly Jitesh Sharma's call, but Yash Dayal came up with poor awareness, and a massive miscommunication saw Suryakumar Yadav getting saved. What caught the attention of many was the reaction of Virat Kohli; the senior batter got furious and threw his cap in frustration.
