Pakistan's ODI captain, Mohammad Rizwan, has finally spoken up on being dropped from the team's T20I squad recently. Rizwan claimed that he wasn't consulted by the selectors and the PCB, but accepts the decision.
Both the star players, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, were dropped from Pakistan's T20I squad for the tour of New Zealand recently. However, both the batters kept their places for the ODI squad and played all three matches.

After New Zealand won the third ODI at Mount Maunganui, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan attended the press conference and answered various questions from the reporters. During this moment, Rizwan was asked about being dropped from the T20I squad.
The wicketkeeper-batter made it clear that he wasn't consulted before being dropped from the T20I team, and it was completely the decision of the selectors. Rizwan further mentioned that he accepts the decision, like he has done before as well.
"I can't say anything on behalf of the T20s because it's not my job, and not a lot is in my hands. They didn't consult us before dropping us from the T20I team. It's their decision, and we accept that," Rizwan was quoted as saying by Dawn.

Why were Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam dropped from T20Is?
Pakistan decided to select a young and inexperienced team for the tour of New Zealand in an attempt to bring some much-needed aggression into the line-up. Both Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have been highly consistent in the shortest format, but their low strike rates haven't been helpful for the team.
Rizwan has played 106 T20Is and scored 3414 runs at an average of 47.41 with 1 hundred and 30 fifties. However, his strike rate of 125.37 doesn't go down well in terms of modern-day T20 cricket.
Similarly, Babar Azam too is one of the most consistent batters in the T20I format, but has struggled to score runs quickly. Babar has scored 128 T20Is and scored 4223 runs at an average of nearly 40 and a strike rate of 129.22 with 3 hundreds.
New Zealand thrash Pakistan
Pakistan had a horrendous tour of New Zealand in which they lost both the T20I and the ODI series badly. The Men in Green suffered a crushing 1-4 defeat to the home side in T20Is, where Salman Ali Agha led a young team in Mohammad Rizwan's absence.
Rizwan returned to lead the team in ODIs but was unable to change the results. Pakistan were clean-swept in the ODI series 0-3 and returned home empty-handed.
It wasn't a first-choice Playing XI for New Zealand as some of their first-choice players are playing in the ongoing IPL. But Pakistan were far from their best in all the departments and lost the series in an embarrassing manner.
